MultiGuide
MultiGuide is written in
one of Microsoft's flagship languages and uses Object Oriented design and programming to ensure reliability and ease of
modification.
The system will run on Windows 2000 and Windows XP (both Home and Professional versions).
The system comprises two
major elements - an
on-vehicle
system and an office based
Management Console.
MultiGuide uses standard
PCs which you may source
if preferred. We recommend
MultiGuide's compact touch
screen tablet PC (shown on
left) for maximum space
saving on your vehicles.
The in-cab screen
allows the driver to see details of the commentary currently playing along with advance notice of the two commentary blocks coming up
next.
Unlike most other
systems we know of,
MultiGuide offers
dual-control. Playing of
each batch of commentaries
may be triggered by both
driver and GPS. This
flexibility means you can
continue to operate tours
in all conditions - even
if GPS signal is degraded.
The Management Console
allows authorised users to
easily create commentary
points, associate sound
files to these, and link
points together into
routes.
An export facility allows
the user to write the
system to CD, DVD or USB
external drive for
uploading on to your
vehicles. This allows the
system to be updated
without removing the PC
from the vehicle.
We have tested MultiGuide
by playing up to 24
commentaries at the same
time. Please note that, as
far as we are aware,
currently available sound
distribution systems allow
for a maximum of 16 to be
played at the same time.
MultiGuide can be single
language too, of course.
